Ok i just assembled a 2nd computer here, Abit KG7 with a XP1600 cpu.
I have the speaker connected right, and i've tried to reverse the poles on him so it's not something with the speaker.
Now, i know your going to hit me for saying this.. I have a 250w fortron power supply hooked up to it. I know it should not be enough, but shouldn't it post at least? all the power supply issues i've heard of were causing lockups under stress..
And yes, i cleared the cmos so the cpu would be at lowest setting..
I've tried 2 graphic cards, geforce and an old PCI card
I have nothing else in it that could be taking power, not even a hdd yet..(except a NIC)
If it helps the NIC powers on at least, the green light on it does turn on as usualy
How would the computer act if i cracked the CPU? would it beep or just act dead as it's doing now?
I got some huge thermaltake heatsink with it and allthough i'm pretty sure i put it on right that "could" be the cause of trouble, you never know
