Need Help! NIC card driver not installing! NAME IN USE?

Hi,

I'm trying to install a LinkSys 100 baseT ethernet card, but I cant get the device to work. When I go into device manager and try to reinstall, the error message i'm getting is

name already in use as a service name or service display name

I know i need to go around the registry and delete registry keys, but I dont know where to start. Google has yielded very few results, can anyone help me?

Get rid of the ghost in the device manager.

Boot off take the card out. Boot one time without the card.

Boot Off reinsert the card and try again.

hmm, tried what that resource suggested and it doesnt seem to be working. Also, now when it installs the card its got a #2 beside the name. Something isnt uninstalling properly... i'm pretty stuck. I uninstalled the card, took it out of the slot, restarted the machine, shut down the machine, put the card in another slot, started the machine and... same problem.

sorry, was too quick to reply. I tried the procedure again and it worked with a driver reinstall. It still has a #2 beside it, but the internet works and that's all that matters!
