When I install Windows 2000 on our server, the network card installs and says everything is just fine. It will send packets out to the network but it wont receive :( I've tried different cables and different ports on the switch but still the same problem. It doesn't happen when I put in the Netgear card, onyl when I install the Etherlink card :/ I want the Etherlink instead of the Netgear because the Netgear is 10 where the Etherlink is 10/100. Anybody know whats wrong?

Go into your Network Neighborhood Properties and double click on the Etherlink adapter. Go into the Advanced Tab, Under Propeties click on Media Type. Then on Value, Choose 100Mbps Full-Duplex. Hit OK, OK again and reboot, Then see if it works. Let me know what happens. I hope that helps.

The switch shows that the card changed modes, but it still doesn't receive any data :(

What drivers are you using? If you're using the w2k default ones, have you tried the supplied drivers on disk or most recent drivers from the 'net and vice versa?

Have you deleted all the Netgear drivers?

Have you tried the card in a different pci slot?

If you're using DHCP, have you tried using a static address? Have you confirmed that all network settings are correct if you're already using static info? (subnet mask, gateway, etc).

What error messages are you getting if you try to ping out from the server to another machine on the lan or to the gateway?

Ok, here we go...

I tried the 3COM card first, since it was 10/100, and being in the system we use as the server, and my dad stores most of his MP3's on it, I wanted it to have a faster connection to the network. I put the Netgear in afterwords because I couldn't get the 3COM working :-/

I have tried the card in all the different slots (like 3 or so) and I still get the same errors, and "Local Area Connection #1", "Local Area Connection #2" etc. etc.

I am 100% sure that all of the network setting are correct

What I didn't try was getting drivers from 3COM, maybe its just the Windows 2000 drivers, I will have to try that :)

Thanks for the help. :)
