i bought a digital research 40x12x48 CD-RW and installed it. everything installed fine but when i burn a cd it gets to about 19% or so and just stops, no errors or nothing just sets there with the hard drive light flashing and burner light flashing. i have to reboot to gain access to the burner again. this doesn't happen every time just about every other time though. made a bunch of coasters last night trying to solve it. i have tried different burning speeds and different brands of blank cd's. i am using nero 5590 to burn on an ASUS A7V W\TBIRD 900, 768 MEG PC133. so i do not think that is the problem. i am running windowsXP. i removed the new burner and put me old one back in and everything is fine, perfect cd's every time. any ideas??? thanx in advance for any help rendered

Have you checked the master/slave setting on the old and new cdrw ? If the old one works fine, then check the new one, and set it the same. Also, until you have worked out the kinks, don't burn at a higher speed than 16 or 12 (what is your old burner?) The media may not like the new higher burn speed. If the lower burn speed works with the new cdrw, then try going up a notch on speed, burn 10 more, etc, until you know what speed your media likes.

both were set as master so i dont think that is the problem. the old one is a 12x8x32 cd-rw and i did try burning at 12x with the same success or lack thereof.
