Need Help! -mounting CPU on Abit BH6

GasX

Lifer
I just got a used BH6 / Celeron in the mail and am trying to figure out how to mount the CPU. There are 2 plastic clips that fit in holes on either side of the CPU once it is in the Mobo, but I can figure out how to use them.

Can someone plz help?

Thx!

Mwilding, first, is the Celeron mounted on a green PCB, or is a CeleronII, which is a socketed version? If its the original slot version, go to Abit's website and d/l the manual for the BH6. On page 2-16 - 2-18 are instructions for mounting the slotted version. If its the socketed CeleronII, then you'll need to get an FC-PGA/Coppermine capable Slotket. Then mount the C2 and a capable HSF. One more thing, if the processor is a CeleronII, then you should upgrade your BIOS to the latest version, which is SS for rev1.0x, SP for rev1.1 BH6's.

Hi Mwilding!

Jeff H gave you excellent advice, but I'd like to add to it. If you need an adapter then I would suggest that you get a good one such as the Abit or Iwill. They have voltage adjustment which has helped me with overclocking and are basically better quality than the cheaper OEM adapters.

I have a bunch of the BH6 boards and they are great! Good luck! 🙂😀
