I sold my old Abit BH6 and the buyer has claimed it is DOA. The board was working fine and was in my primary system till I took it out. According to the buyer, " one of the capacitors was bloated and has traces of an electrolyte leak." My first thought was he tried to overclock using the board and messed it up as the sale included couple of Celeron 300As and a 1.1ghz celeron coppermine.

But, since I'm not sure what might cause such damage, I need some one with experience to let me know if indeed an attempt to overclock will do this. Or, is it possible that the damage was caused while being shipped?

I did insure the package for $100 (item was shipped USPS priority) and am thinking of letting the buyer deal with his post office (insurance claim). Thanks!

Bump

Somebody please give some info if you have any regarding this question. I am a friend of GR8Madmax and I can attest that his board was in perfect working order when it left his home because I helped him remove it. Very bizarre situation. Any input would be most helpful.

I don't see how oc'ing could bust a cap. Maybe it's his cpu or other equipment that's doa. Have him return the board to you so you can confirm, and then you can claim the insurance and pay him back if it does not work. I sold a tape drive, tested it before it shipped and it worked fine, and it did not work when the buyer received it. So that's what I'm doing.
