Need help, Mobo Won't Power up

As usual when doing a new build, I set up the mobo o/s the case for testing before going on to install inside case. Installed cpu (Barton 2500), HS+F, ram and agp vid card, no drives. Hooked up both 12v ATX power connectors, power switch and case speaker (for any diag probs/beep codes which may arise).

Well, when I hit the rocker switch at the rear of the psu, I get the green and red LEDs, but nothing when I hit the power button. Tried two different psu's (one known working) to rule that out. Then tried shorting with screwdriver the "power on" (on JP13 for those familiar with this model)pins on the mobo to rule out bad power button on case. Still nothing

Am I missing something, did i short properly to rule out power switch probs, or is this a "DOA" which I need to RMA?

Thanks,

Not much else to check out if you have swapped out the PWR sup. I guess as a last ditch effort, pull everything out except you CPU/FAN and PWR sup. Try seeing if you can even get the fan on the CPU to turn. If not perhaps try clearing the CMOS. If that doesn't work, head for the RMA route.

Yup, that did it. Pulled out the vid card and she seemed to fire up. So I put in a spare GTS, she booted fine. I'm thinking the card I originally had in there was 3.3 v and the mobo won't support it.

Thanks

Thanks, yeah it'll boot fine now (although I don't get any beep codes?). Had to work through one agp card that wouldn't work (the 3.3.v thingy) and then what looks like two bad pci vid cards. Glad I didn't rma the board.

It was meant to be an office server, but now I'm gonna put my spare G4 Ti 4200 with an extra HD. So, it'll see dual service as a light gamer. It's a light aluminum case with a built-in handle on top for easy carrying. I'll drag it home on the weekends and kick juniors butt in UT etc.

Thanks again,
