I've never broken the 4gb barrier, but I'm building a new system with 8gb RAM on Vista x64.

I'm wondering what is the best way to make use of all of this RAM to speed up application performance?

Cheers!

Nothing, SuperFetch will proactively fill the memory for you. You could play stupid startup tricks to get things preloaded yourself but that's what SuperFetch is supposed to do for you.

Yep what he said.

I think Vista also allocates more memory to apps if you have more memory available. For instance, I typically hit peak commit charges under heavy load of 3-3.5GB max with 4GB (1-2 games running, MC, couple instances of IE, various other apps). Now I'll often have commit charge in that range with just a few apps and some IE windows open. With a few games it hits 6GB easy. Kinda scary though to see 8190MB available, commit at 3000MB, 5000MB cached and 0MB free. :)
