I was going to buy a stick of this ADATA 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model ADDS1600W8G11-S - Newegg.com to install in the extra slot of this Laptop MSI GP Series GP70 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-bit - Newegg.com which is rated to handle 16gb. The only difference about the actual Laptop we purchased is ours has the i5 4210H processor the memory in the laptop now, has the exact same specs and is also Adata looks the same. Thanks!

That will work however, you might want to use Belarc advisor or another program to tell you if your current 8 GB of ram is one stick or two. Since the MB only has two ram slots.

I checked it when I installed a ssd and it has one 8gb. stick installed which looks just like the one in question and also another slot for another stick so I guess I'll order one then. Thanks!
