Need help making a simple ebook. Anyone?

I have a book in PDF format. I can easily convert this to a text or word file by sut/paste, but I need to find a (free) way to convert any of these to ebook (.lit), I use MS Reader for PocketPC 2002. I originally just installed Adobe Reader for PPC, but it is not the same as a real ebook. Any help is appreciated, I have already scoured download.com and tried the free stuff, but it does not seem to work for me. Thanks!😕
