Hi all,
The last few days I have been working on my car in order to sell it. Putting in new spark plugs, wires, distributer cap, etc. Well, now that we have done this it runs a lot better (duh
) and so it more attractive to keep. I had been decided on selling it, but now I am not so sure.
The car is a 57' Ford Fairlane my grandmother gave me a year ago when I graduated high school. It has only 50,000 miles on the origional engine. All the chrome and origional parts. Some small rust spots on the lower body, but nothing major. Really cool car.
The thing is, I can't really afford insurance. So it is just sitting at my parents house with a car cover. Without me able to take care of it, and my parents not having much time to do so, I am worried that it will just get ruined sitting there. In fact, when I got back from a year of college it wasn't running so well (now it runs great that we did a tune up), and so I was ready to sell it.
Here are the Pro's/Con's that I can see for selling it:
Pro's:
Won't just sit there and get ruined
Money can go for college or a study abroad opportunity that I want to do but don't know how to afford
Money could go towards a practical car with better gas mileage.
Con's:
Probably will never get the opportunity to get another car such as this
Sentimental Value
The car has a major coolness value
If I scrap, I might be able to get some sort of insurance and have a fun car to drive around (been looking at some "Classic Car" insurance where you can only drive for a certain ammount of miles a year, but the insurance is cheap).
Can anyone give me advice? I don't want to sell it and then regret it later, but I also don't want it to sit there when it could just go bad and I could use the money.
Thanks
Oh yah, pics I took last night
