i have s system with the following configuration on which i am trying to load windows xp.

kr7a raid mother board
about 290 meg ram in 3 dimms
1600+ xp amd processor
2 maxtor 40 gig drives setup as a raid 1 configuration
the drives have been partitioned to allow for mutiple operating systems
soundblaster live sound card
leadtex gforce 2 video card
netgear 311 nic card

when i load up xp on drive c i press f6 load the latest highpoint driver and the operating system loads fine
with no conflicts with any part of the system etc.

when i reboot the system (by turning it off or restarting it i get the message:

windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
windows\system32\config\system

how do i avoid this and get xp to restart normally????

I tried moving the drive to the non raid controler and get the same message.

at one point i had the system set up for dual booting and when i looked on the xp drive i found the file mentioned there on the disk so i do not believe the file is corrupted. I also loaded the operating system multiple times with the same pattern of working/not working.

having or not having the latest 4 in one via driver does not seem to make a difference

without adding 231 of the highpoint driver the computer does not see the drive as existing (the one built into xp does not seem to work)

windows 2000 loads and reboots ok with the highpoint driver installed.

how do i solve this problem?
