i switched motherboards today and i doing so knocked the heatsink off the northbridge chip on the old motherboard, the screw popped out and i can not find the spring anywhere plus the screw is damaged. is there somehow to get replacement or some kind of glue i could use to reattach it as i want to sell the board. the motherboard is an ABIT AT7 MAX board. thank you

This should do the job. I have one and it keeps my nForce2 Ultra 400 under 27c full system load with an Athlon XP 3200+ and PC3200 memory. And I don't have much airflow in my case but it's a Chieftec/Antec tower case so it mas more airflow naturally then some other cases.

Yep the Zalman NB heatsinks will work well. It's OOS at Newegg but you can get them from SVC or jab-tech.

If you want your old heatsink back on, just get some artic alumina adhesive. Might even be ok to use normal thermal paste in the middle and just put superglue on the corners of the NB, but tbh I would go with the proper thermal adhesive.

I see your mobo has a northbridge fan, so my preference would probably be to replace it with the passive Zalman anyway, but there is another option if you'd rather keep what you have :)
