Need Help, Keyboard Problems!

I don't quite know what to do, hope someone can help. I just built a system today. The keyboard works fine in BIOS, but once the system starts booting I lose all keyboard functionality. I've tried 2 different keyboard, and tried them with "Plug and Play OS" in BIOS on and off. I tried 2 Win98 bootdisks, 1 bootcd, 1 Ghost boot disk. Anyone heard of this happening before or have any idea what I should do? Here's the system stats (in case that helps somehow):

ASUS A7M266-D MoBo
(2) Athlon MP 1800+
1gig Crucial Registered PC2100 DDR RAM
(2) Maxtor 60gig 7200rpm ATA100
XtremeTech Server Tower with 420watt PSU
Linksys NIC
ASUS USB2.0 bundled card

I have the same damn problem. Are you using the PS2 port? What I do to avoid the problem is turn the computer off. Unplug the keyboard, plug it back in. Turn the computer on and see if that works. If not, keep pressing reset until it works.

I seriously think there is a flaw with the PS2 port because I bought a USB keyboard to see if the problem was solved and it is not. I always have a PS2 keyboard plugged in so that I can boot.

Jesus Christ... I just figured it out after hours of going over everything, including the documentation. Is your board an ASUS? The "Quick Reference" plastic card that comes with the MoBo is misprinted. Turns out what the quick reference card labels as "IDE LED" is in fact "Keyboard Lock". I just saw this discrepency with the full manual and tested it. Now everything works fine. If you're having the same problem, unplug what you have hooked up as IDE LED or HD LED... it actually connects to a jumper a few centimeters above the normal panel. I'm gonna have to bitch to ASUS about this one.

Yes I have the same board, but why does mine still work? I only get keyboard lock every once in a while.
