need help keeping a session alive

I have a website that will allow a user to visit another persons website from within my frameset. I don't want their session to timeout on my site while they are visiting this other site. Can I use the meta http-equiv=Refresh tag in my header to do this? Or is there some other way of keeping their session alive while at another site.
