Hey AT, I need some help installing my video card.
They system is:
ECS H61 M1-M2 Motherboard micro atx
Antec Truepower 550watt psu
2x 8gb Gskill Sniper 3 DDR3
120GB Patriot Wildfire SSD
i7 2500K CPU
AMD sapphire HD5850 (flashed with 5870 bios)
The motherboard has on board VGA and HDMI out, which both work and display out successfully. The problem is the video card. It is a sapphire HD5850 that was flashed to an HD5870 and given to me by a friend. It works okay in his computer, and it was originally a 5850. Then it was flashed to a 5870 bios for tighter timings and higher voltage for better overclocking.
The card boots okay for my friend in his motherboard, but it will not boot in my motherboard.
If I run with the two 6-pin PCIE power pins plugged into the card, the 5850's fan will spin at normal speed. If I boot the computer without those PCIE power pins plugged in, then the 5850's fan will spin at 100%. Both cases there is no VGA output.
I've read a forum post over at TPU about a 5970 manual flash that took place by soldering and shorting pins 1 to 8 on the bios chip on the board, but it sounds like a bunch of hassle. http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115240
I've tried resetting the motherboards CMOS, but no luck. I will try updating the motherboard to the newest bios. And I will also see if a local computer shop can repair my 5850 back to the original stock bios.
Does anyone have any input or suggestions as to how I can get this 5850 + ECS H61H2-M2 to boot up successfully together?
Thanks.
