Need Help Installing Scythe Ninja

Okay so I unscrewed the original retention bracket that came on the motherboard and installed the black plastic one since I have the X2 3800. Everything seems to be going fine, but when I place the ninja on the CPU, the clips won't reach the holes. There is a good half an inch separating them. What did I do wrong here? Am I supposed to do something with the CPU or was I right in just installing it on the mobo without changing anything? Hope you guys can help. Thanks.

Hook one side in first, then do the other, its hard, but that's how its done, and hopefully you'll only need to do it once.

I just tried that, and the plastic is literary bending as I try to force it to fit. Is that part of the installation?

I don't have a digital camera 🙁

I have the EPoX 9NDA3+ nForce3 Ultra Socket 939 if that says anything.

I'm almost using my full strength to get the other pair of clips to get in the hole, but it won't reach and I'm afraid it might damge something if I try harder. Exactly how much force is it supposed to take to get it in place?

I tried with both the back-plates, but I get the same result. Maybe I just need to use a little more force. I'll check back later for further opinions/suggestions.

When I put my ninja in I didn't tighten the back plate until after it was attached to the clips

That gave me a little bit of room to get it cliped

It's a hard fit on mine as well. My advice, use your thumb and forefinger to grab the top of the clip so that you can push it down while it is still spread out. Then when you think you've pushed it down enough, twist it so that it latches.

I suggest a couple of dry runs first without thermal paste.

I finally got it on. I had to loosen the screws on the retention bracket a little bit to give my self some room.
