need help installing red alert 2 on winxp sp2 install

i hope somebody here can help me out, i just did a fresh install of winxp with sp2 integrated and now i get an error message that setup.exe has encountered an error and is closing, it gives big long list of stuff that i have no clue what it means. i have no idea what is wrong, i tried running it in compatabilty mode for all the choices there but still the same error. hopefully somebody here can help me. i can email screen shots of the error message if somebody wants to try and help. looks like memory error message but not sure.

Have you made sure the discs are in good condition? Are you able to install using the same discs on another computer? Most likely you have damaged discs, though it could be a memory issue as well the discs are the simple place to start looking for problems.

no, the CD's are in excellent shape. this is well known issue i am finding out after doing some searches on the net. i have seen so far about 4 differnet suggestions on how to resolve it and none have worked so far.

After ensuring the discs are still in good condition (remember to check the label on the CD, too. If the backing (the 'top' of the CD) gets scraped off or chipped, it can cause problems. Also, post some screenshots here of the problems (you can upload them to a place like imageshack) that setup.exe reports.

Odd.. I have installed this game numerous times on XP SP2 and never had a problem.

I would have to second this remark. I also have run it on SP2 with no difficulty at any time.(not even using compatibility mode) There must be something specific giving it issues.

Out of curiosity, you are doing this on an admin account, right?

I'm guessing it is probably more of a hardware issue, but I'm not sure where to look. I was first thinking maybe an issue with SATA, but according to your sig, you are using PATA, so I'm confused.

well figured out what was wrong, i installed new program for spyware this install instead of old one i used to use, it has more features including one that watches and apparently stops programs from installing it considers a threat. i closed it and everything installed fine. BTW the program is called spysweeper
