Need help installing new Seagate Barracuda

I got the new 40GB seagate barracuda from newegg, and I am having a few difficulties installing it. I chose to place it on the secondary IDE channel as the slave device. When I boot into windows, as soon as my desktop loads the computer reboots. If I unplug it, it is fine. Also, when I try to install the software that comes with it, there is a button that says click here to install software. Nothing happens when i click it, no setup program starts. I am clueless what to do. Any help would be great!

do you try with a other hard drive at secondary IDE???

I think I will try both. I will try putting it on another IDE channel. I really, really hate IDE cables. My IDE connectors on my motherboard are like 2 inches from my hard drives, that makes for a LOT of extra slack/crammpage in my case!
