I been trying to install a external serial port modem. I keep getting this message.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver maybe coruppted or missing. Code 39

Here are my PC Specs

Shuttle SN45G
XP2500+
512MB
40GB
XP Pro

I also tried installing a pci and usb modem and it tells me the same thing.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

It sounds to me like you don't have the right driver for the modem. Try to download the latest driver from your modem manufacturer's web site. Since it's an external serial port modem, also make sure your serial ports are enabled in your bios and that they're showing up in the windows device manager.

Windows help gives this for your error message:
Reasons for this error include a driver that is not present; a binary file that is corrupt; a file I/O problem, or a driver that references an entry point in another binary file that could not be loaded.
Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard.
