need help installing heatsink

Ok I am about to order my new system, and for cooling I am getting the Thermaltake Pipe 101 heatsink. I was just wondering what the best way to apply the thermal paste would be (how much to use, specific way to do so). thanks in advance Chad

It depends on what kind of paste you are using. For example, if you use Artic Silver 5, you can go on their website and it will give instructions.

Generally you want to use very little paste, around the size of 1/2 grain of rice. One other method I heard of was taping off a square on the cpu with masking tape. Then put the paste in the middle and use a credit card to spread it and make it flush with the masking tape. I hear that then it produces a good thickness (which should be equal to the masking tape).

why don't you just test it out! looks like it will but there are more factors than we could speculate, plus your ideas are different than other peoples.
