I am building my new rig (specs in sig) and installed XP Pro with SP2 slipstreamed. So everything is fine except I can't install ASPI no matter what I try. Here is what I have tried so far:
  1. Install using Adaptec ASPI 4.60, 4.70, 4.71, 4.71.1, 4.71.2
    Install using ForceASPI 1.17, 1.18
Tried fixASPI reg fix which basically changes the "Start" value to either 1 or 2 in key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32
I have tried bootlogging and windows says it loaded the file
I have tried installing as Admin
Everything looks ok in Nero InfoTool and ASPIchk but when I try to use ASPI in Feurio or ISObuster, it can not find any drives. In the past I have gotten it to work using methods listed above but I have never tried to install ASPI on a SP2 installation. This is the only difference I can think of between my past working installs and this endless frustration. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I've never had to install an ASPI layer for XP SP2.

Nero provides its own and Isobuster works fine as well.

Some programs require it such as Feurio, Fireburner, CDRWin, etc. With Isobuster it defaults to XP native interface SPTI. The good news is I finally friggin figured it out. I just copied Nero's wnaspi32.dll over the adaptec one in \system32. And viola, it works. Man what a friggin waste of 2 days of hair pulling!!! Thanks anyway Herr Chad. Mercy BOO Coup :p
