Need help installing amp and sub using the stock deck

Just bought a 2007 mazda6, great car for the price. I want to bring over one of my FUBR-12 subs and a 1000w amp.

Here's the tough part, I want to keep the stock deck. The way the dash is setup, the deck is a massive piece of the console and is attached to the climate controls (I think). The deck's display is actually seperated from the cd loader and controls by the air vents. Long story short, replacing the deck seems like way more trouble than I am looking for. Plus, I like the six disc changer and I don't want to spend any money.

All my google attempts just turn up "look at my super awesome sound system in my mazda6" threads. I can't even find out which sound system my car actually has for sure.

Does anyone have personal experiences with a mazda6 and hooking up an amp to the stock deck? Since I'm 90% positive the stock deck isn't going to have the RCA hookups, anyone know of a way to mess with the wirng to make it accept the RCA outputs?

I had an '05 Mazda6 wagon. I used the stock stereo and just a bazooka tube; it was good enough for my purposes at the time (and replaced all four door speakers). I also got a thing that plugs in the back of the stereo that allowed me to have my own input, it worked very well.

If you do go with the line converter as Gillbot suggested, make SURE you plug into the rear speakers. The head unit output on the rear was actually quite flat, but the front speakers were not at all - no bass to speak of for your amp to amplify.

I have an 05' Mazda 6 hatchback that is going to be sold soon. I actually used the single - din Metra kit and modified it into a double din. Now I have GPS/Mp3 player in it. I also upgraded the speakers to Infinity perfect 6.1s as well as added a nice sub and Alpine amps.
