I bought my mom a CD burner for Christmas, I know how to install it when it comes to the actual hookups and stuff. But I am having trouble figuring out how to get into the case to do it. I know the left side(when viewing from the front) is held in by 1 thumbscrew and a latch type thing. This only gives me access to one area to put a screw int he new CD burner. The other side of the case appears to be riveted in place, so I assume maybe the drive cage comes out, but I am unsure as to how. Any help you can give me would be great. Thanks

I also plan to check at dells website or maybe email thier tech support, but figured someone here would know a lot quicker.

Dells are always tricky business. Or any PC you buy for that matter.

You just have to fool around with them for a while.

Try and slide the panels out and just push on them in any way you can think. Eventually you will find some way to get to the other side of the drive cage. Just remember DON'T FORCE IT TOO MUCH. You don't want to break it.

Thanks, I found the info on the dell web site. Much easier to find then I expected. Once there I found out how to get the front panel off, by then I had seen how thier system works, but to be safe I read the instructiosn fuirther.

In my case mounted to the front of the case where 4 alignment screws. You screw 1 in on each side of the front of the drive and slide it in place, the screw fit into a groove. Then you screw in one securing screw into the back of the drive. Thats all there is to it. Thanks
