It's a 1994 Toyota Corolla DX, auto, power window/door, 4 door sedan, red, 103k miles, reliable, asking $3,500 (I'll probably let them low ball me down $500 or so), I also need 12 digits for phone number 503-123-4567 and my name Ross if we can fit it in.

I need to cram as much info as possible into 3 lines of 28 characters (includes spaces and punctuation)

Any ideas on what I should say to get the person's interest?

The 4th line will have a URL which has a picture of the car's interior/exterior and tells people that it's a salvage title (along with an explation as to why it's a salvage title).

Thank you!

Not sure on the entire composition, but its likely that the person who responds to the ad will have known entirely what they are looking for - so all you need to put in are the details :)

Classifieds ad in newspaper it's going to cost me around $100 total $50 for newspaper (6 weeks daily & weekend), $25 for online newspaper ad with photo and info and $25 for 2 months of voicemail service.

If I can't sell it in the newspaper then I'll probably try ebay, autotrader, yahoo, the works.

you wouldnt need to put location.

#1 you dont want people coming to your house at 2 am
#2 they can call
#3 they can figure out where you live by reason of the exchange on your phone number

Fo' Sale

Big bold words. No 'r', that is all.

*edit* or just save yourself the trouble and sell it on here (esp. now that we know how low you'll go, hehe)

Only one previous owner, a peruvian diamond smuggler.

Gas mileage is horrible, almost like there are hidden weights in the doors.

Thanks for all the smart ass replies (of course what else should I have expected from you guys?)

Although I did see 3-4 serious replies, thank you :D

I just got back from the repair shop where they installed a new battery (it had difficulty starting up). I also got a killer deal on detailing only $75 and the guy spent 4 hours cleaning the inside, outside, washing, waxing and buffing, even the tires look almost new I'm in shock. All other detail shops wanted $175 for the same job, LOL.

I think I'm gonna list the car for a really high amount of $3,900 (I paid $4,000 back in September 2001) and let them low ball me down to 3500, 3200, 3000, 2750 then 2500 which is where I'll stop.

Here are the current newspaper classifieds ads for 93-95 Toyota Corolla's:

92 COROLLA, 4 dr, AT, AC, 96K, recent major tuneup, very nice, as is $1,250

93 COROLLA LE, 4 dr, AT/OD, runs good, $2900.

92 COROLLA 4dr, auto, AC, 60K original miles, white, $2950/offer.

92 COROLLA LE 4 door, automatic, air, full power, $2995

93 COROLLA. 5spd, am/fm cass, 78K mi, good running cond. $3300/ofr

94 COROLLA, 4 dr, 5 spd, 1 owner, 68K, air bags, recs, exclnt, $3750/ofr

92 COROLLA, 109K mi, AT, 4WD, CD plyr, AC, PS, great cond, $4000/bst ofr

95 COROLLA DX 4dr, red, AT, PDL, AC, amfm cass, CC, non smkr, 1.8L eng, 93K, $4250/best offer

95 COROLLA 4 dr, 5 spd, stereo, PS, (400 veh) finan, warr $4675

94 COROLLA Wagon, light blue, 5 spd, rf rack, dual air bag, well maint, 120K, $4900

94 COROLLA, AT, AC, keyless, alarm, all power, excl cond, must sell $4,950

95 COROLLA 4 dr, great miles, PS, stereo (400 veh) warr $4975

95 COROLLA DX 4dr, 4cyl auto, well eqpt! $4995

92 COROLLA Wgn. All trac, hard to find. Call now. $4995

95 COROLLA Sedan, AT, AC, new tires, lt blue, 1 owner/non smkr, 04 tags, clean. $5599

1995 TOYOTA Corolla. Auto, ac, pwr steer, cd. #pa20576. $5988

93 TOYOTA Corolla. Auto, air & more. $5995

94 TOYOTA COROLLA WGN. Call now. $5995

Since my ad will be under the Toyota category I don't need to repeat Toyota, here's what I think my ad will look like:
94 COROLLA DX auto 4dr red
lo mi pwpl Ross 503-111-1111
Insert URL here which requires 1 line

So what do you think of that?

Damn I forgot the price and OBO, grr I might have to get another line.

Put power everything in there instead of just windows and locks. It doesn't sound as stripped as just power windows and locks. Also mention maintenance records if you have them. If you've had it for say 3 years, say 3yrs without a problem in the ad. That should give the potential buyer some assurance considering it's a salvaged vehicle. Put no squeaks, no rattles in there too. If true of course.

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm really limited with the space I'd like to do it 2 lines but I think I may have to go 3.

I like that streamlined ad but it doesn't give enough info. I want to arouse the person's curiosity enough so they go online and see a picture of the car.

I may not even have to place an ad, my car mechanic knows someone who might buy it for around $3k if they can get approved for a used car loan at their bank.
