Ok, the last time I looked at building a system, 440BX was the major board. Thinga have certainly changed and I'm now pretty lost.
I now have a Dell Dimension XPST700R. Basically, what I want to do is take the chip out of this PC, replace it with a more powerful one and put the chip in a new box to make it a server.
So, I'm guessing I need a Socket 370 board for the PIII chip. I'd like to have support for SCSI in the MB, because I'll probably add SCSI to the system at a later time.
This is really just going to be a server, so built-in video and ethernet would be great, too, though I have cards I can use if I need to.
Any suggestions? Does anyone know how fast a chip I can put in my Dell (which I swear is my last piece of s**t).
Thanks.
