I've had my PS2 games for a while and frankly I haven't been exactly tidly with them. Needless to say, they have minor scratches and often skips during gameplay. I currently have Mod Chip installed which I to play my Japanese encoded games, So I the backup playback option. My question is, is there a specific method or process I need to endure to play my backed up games on DVDRs.

few questions:

1. Method of burning the games
2. Specific DVDR - or + ?
3. rate of sucessful burnt DVDs which plays on a modded PS2

I would appreciate any replies from people familiar with the matter.

I just open Nero and do a disk copy in nero express. I've never found any media that won't work in my PS2. There is nothing special to do.

OK first off, forget Nero and Alcohol, they aren't worth using for PS2 backups though they will work fine for most people. The PS2 scene standard is DVD decrypter. It does everything you need in 2 clicks and its FREE. To read a disc ISO: Goto Mode -> ISO -> Read then click the DVD -> HDD button. To write a disc ISO: Goto Mode -> ISO -> Write then click the HDD to DVD button. I prefer to use +R's but I may have a different version of PS2 than you, both should generally work fine though. I've only had a few bad burns but most of those were in the beginning when i was still downloading backups instead of renting them. Now it always works using said method.

Whereas boshuter's method works great (he says), and is only 1 click to copy the game.

Yours is better?

Decrypter is free, Nero and Alcohol are not. Your success is usually more dependent on your mod chip rather than the method of copying.

LOL..... well you can make it as hard as you want..... think I'll just use the 1 click solution:D

How many people do you know that don't have even an old basic copy of Nero? They gave it away with everything. If you have to go through all that crap and find the "compatible" disks, then maybe you should invest in a decent mod chip;)
