Hi, I'm looking for something to buy that I can use to store my CDs. I prefer getting a CD shelf, sort of a like a book shelf where my CDs can be easily displayed. I have probably around 250 - 300 CDs. The only place I can think of would be IKEA, but I'm hoping to find some place else to get this shelf. Thanks for the help.

Get a 256-capacity CD binder.

The most famous brand is Case Logic, but there are other brands, including Kensington, CDProjects, and so on.

You throw away the jewel cases, and place the CDs and the liner notes in the thick binder. Each page, made of a leather-like material, has 4 transparent pockets. A CD with liner notes goes into a pocket. Both sides of the page is used, for a total of 8 pockets.

I use binders to store all my CD's. They are great. You can store upto 300 CD's in a binder and then carry the binder under one arm. You will never achieve such space savings with other conventional storage solutions.

Thanks for the reply, chickenhead. I have the binders for all my computer CDs and backups. However, for my music I would really like to have them displayed for all to see my amazing taste in music...haha. Plus, having all my music CDs in one binder kinda freaks me out. ;)

Linflas, that looks pretty good. Do you think they have the same thing, but wider?

If anybody is interested in your music, they can go through your binder, like they would go through a photo album.

Why?

You're going to have all your music in one place anyway. What does it matter if it's in a binder, or a shelving system, or a shoebox, or whatever else?

They didn't when I got mine but you never know with Ikea. That is why I got 2 of them. If I recall correctly they come with a couple of little metal "U"s that you use to hold them together side by side when you have more than 1. They also came with a bracket to fasten them to the wall if you need to (if you have a floor that flexes when you walk by, carpeting etc) since they are very tall for their width/depth. Mine are sitting on a hardwood floor so I did not have to fasten them to the wall.

I just prefer having a couple 200cd CD-Albums lying around. You can store the books with the CD's if you want, but you really have to cram them in there. I just want the CD's anyways, so I just have them sitting in there bare. With the album though you can fit ~200cd's in a 12"x12"x3" space.
