okay I got a MSI 6321 dual PIII mobo.
I was running a celery 633 on it, but now need to upgrade to two PIII's for work purposes.

I want the best deal I can find in a cpu and want some recommendations in choosing one.

how are the PIII's for overclocking purposes?
Can I usually get a PIII 850 (8.5*100mhz) to run at 133mhz?
I read alot of people like the 700s. Are these the best for overclocking? OR is overclocking PIII's very difficult with standard air cooling (I don't want to use water or pelter) so I should just buy say a 1Gig chip.

From what I have been reading if you can pick up a pair of the P3700's with the cco stepping you are almost guaranteed 933...

Good Luck and search around for cco and you can find more information. They are pretty new..

Good Luck.

The best price/performance ratio is prolly around the P3 FC-PGA 700 or 800. As for overclocking an 850/100 to 133, perhaps with a brand spanking new cC0 version you might be lucky to get that. There don't seem to be many 850 cC0's around to really know if they'll be able to do this or not yet, the fact you'd be trying it in a dual board makes it even that more tricky. If you're going to OC I'd say 2 P3-700/100 cC0's at 133fsb would be your best bet for success.

okay so are cCo just better cpus then cBo's? for they are the same in performace reliability and all other stuff,BUT the CCO's can overclock better, which makes them better cpus?? is this how it works??

Yeah they refined the design a bit, cut down the number of transistors and such (I don't have the link handy but details are on Intel's page). Initial results looks like they OC alot more reliably than the cB0's.

700E's are pretty cheap and will be fast even at default speed in a dual setup. Dual 700E's@933 is probably easy to achieve. A lot of people claim success at this speed.

Do anybody know if they are going to make new more refined PIII's? I mean now they have cCo's are they going to make say cDo's or something in the near future. This is because IF they are then I can just wait a few months and get a newer more refined cpu say newer version of the 850 that might hit 133fsb...

IF intel won't make a more refined PIII in the future and concentrate on the PIV then I will get the 700 cC0
