Hi all, I've an ATI x850xtpe right now but I find it insufficient for Company of Heroes at 1920x1200. Looking a bit into the future, I know that it's not going to last long. The problem is I have a Dell 9100 and can only upgrade to so far, so my next BIG system won't come until mid next year or so. Is there a video card that can fill this gap that does not cost an arm and a leg? Here are the video cards I'm trying to decide on:

7800GTX
7900GTX
1900...
or
8800GTS

Any recommendation is appreciated. Thanks

7800GTX no
7900GTX no

X1950XT 256 mb seems like best price/perf at the moment

8800GTS if you are willing to spend for it, have the power requirements to run the beast

It's slower than the all of the cards you listed except for maybe the 7800 GTX. Go with either the X1950XT BassBomb mentioned or if you can fork out the cash, the 8800GTS.

x1950xt it is, but what brand is good? On newegg, I see HIS IceQ3 Turbo for 300 and the Saphire for 270. Is there a big difference between them (as HIS claims that it's "faster")?

Edit: 7950GT KO? is 512mb of ram makes any difference?

The HIS has a better cooler which is quieter and cooler than the Sapphire, however, I've heard Sapphire is the better company. The X1950XT is faster than the 7950GT KO in nearly all situations (barring some OpenGL games like Quake 4, Prey, etc.); even though the 7950GT KO has 512mb of ram, the X1950XT's clocks more than make up for difference in ram.

Edit: The HIS's core is clocked 25MHz faster, however the difference between the two is negligable.
