need help in choosing proc

Just read somewhere that both PIII 1GHz and 1.1GHz (cD0/100 MHz) were hitting 1.2GHz and above.
Anybody here having the same luck with the mentioned proc? Gonna be buying one soon and just
wanted to know if it is possible to hit it with just air cooling.
