That Sony is probably the best 19" LCD out there, but its price is way too high. Not really worth it IMO.

The Sony has the X-Brite Coating which will make the monitor look great without alot of tinkering... as long as you have low/indirect lighting sources. The glare at my local best buy on those screens has always turned me off.

The Dell has significantly more screen resolution and significantly better ergonomics as well as USB hub pass through.

Given that you have Sli GTX, I can't see a reason not to go Dell (or that Gateway 21" widescreen monitor at Best Buy)

Agreed 100%. You have the video cards to drive the 1680x1050 resolution (and then some), why not put them to use? Plus the Dell is usually cheaper than that monitor anyway...

(Although I agree that the new Gateway 21" widescreen may be worth taking a look at, as it apparently has support for several things the Dell doesn't - like HDCP, Component IIRC, and supposedly has a better scaler..)

Edit: I've also had the 2005FPW myself, for about 10 months now, and I've been extremely happy with it.

How is the quality of the games that you play? They look sharp or they have that dull LCD look?

Not sure exactly what you mean by "that dull LCD look"...image quality seems exceptional over DVI to me, better than the CRT I used before (and that was a $600 CRT)... :) (Edit: With the one exception of black levels, but that'll probably apply to just about any LCD)

The Sony's footprint would bum me out (among things others have mentioned, like price) - I often push my keyboard way up under my existing LCD - something I couldn't do with the Sony.

If by dull, you mean slightly subdued in comparison to CRT, then yes... the Dell and the Gateway both have matte surface finishes and can appear dull. Using a calibrater can help reduce this effect. Many video cards also contain settings that will help this "dull" appearence.

If you are particularly sensitive, maybe you can find a Best Buy with the Gateway in stock... or go to an Apple place to check the Apple 20" which is almost identical to the Dell and should exhibit similar screen surface characteristics.

Personally, I am the other way. I prefer the matte screen (and "duller" picture) because of the significantly lower rate of reflection. I am working in a very bright area, so um yeah.
