Hey guys! I used to be a computer freak, but for the last like 8 months i haven't been into it, cause i didn't have much time ( skool and other stuff..) so I have some problems in picking new parts for my pc.
( I currantly have Athlon XP 2400, Asus A7N8X-Deluxe, and GeForce Ti 4600).

I wanna get Presscot 2,8 (P42,8E), but i'm not cartain about what mobo and rams should i buy for it.
I was thinking about the P4C800-E Deluxe but that's kinda expensive....u guys know any cheaper mobos which provide same performance??

I also don't get the differance between chipset FX5900 and FX 5900XT, which one is better and how do they compete against Radeon 9800Pro 128MB??

I also noticed on newegg.com "REFURBISHED: ASUS RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 256MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/VIVO, 8X AGP -RETAIL " for just 281$. what is the differance between that and the normal "ASUS RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 256MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/VIVO, 8X AGP -RETAIL " which costs 355$??

Thx a lot for help!!

I can't really advise you on the other components, but it might not be the best idea to get the Prescott processor unless you are going to be doing some serious overclocking - and even then it might not be worth it. The Northwood processors sometimes outperform the Prescotts at the same clock speed, and the Prescott chips produce a lot more heat.

Just a friendly warning 🙂

No, the Northwoods (P4C's) always outperform the Prescott's at the same clockspeed in everything, except media encoding.

Refurb=someone sent it back for some reason & they can't sell it as new. Still carries full manufactures waranty, but sometimes there is a shorter or no store return. That is a nice card if you want the video capture.
