Tiger Direct has Soyo K7VME Socket A Barebone Kit / AMD Athlon XP 2400+ / 52X CD-ROM / 256MB DDR / CPU Fan For 249.00 with a 110.00 rebate.
total 139.00
That leaves you with getting DVD burner, video card, more ram if you want/need 512mb, 3.f floppy, PCI modem

Toshiba 8x DVD burner 49.00 after rebate (tiger direct)
Seagate 80gb ultra ATA-100 59.99 after rebate(tiger direct)
FDD 3.5" 1.44mb should be able to pick up for around 10 bucks (newegg.com)
PCI modem dialup 56kbps. Should be able to get for 10 bucks
addl 512mb pc2100 around 70 bucks
video card nvidia fx 5200 128mb/128bit around 70 bucks.
cables $25 or so

That puts you around $432 not including any tax, s&h. plus up front will be more outlay due to rebates.

Newegg has alot of items that include free shipping and handling

Also another site is starmicro.com which has some pretty decent prices on processors, memory and heatsinks&fans.

actually it is www.starmicro.net
