I just purchased a sound baster audigy card and trying to hook it up with my receiver. My problem is that the audigy card digital output is a minijack output and my receiver can accept only Coaxil or Optical digital input. I would prefer to hook up using a digital connection so that I can let the receiver decode the DTS sounds and play it through it through my home theater system.

I tried purchasing a minijack to RCA converter from RadioShack but it does not work. I guess my other option will be buying a live! drive but I really do not want to spend extra $. If you know a way to hook up the audigy digital minijack output to coaxil or optical input of a receiver, can you please post it here.

Thanks in advance :)

Which audigy card do you have? The Audigy Platinum or Platinum EX you can hook optical to the front. If you bought a gamer or standard audigy, no optical off of the card its self.

Sorry....I have not seen a mini to optical converter (not saying there isn't one) but you can try this. I got a splitter at the last computer show that has a female mini, and splits into red/white RCA ($3.00). Saying that, I know they make RCA to optical converters. So you may be able to have a male/male cable into the spliter that comes out RCA, then purchase a converter to optical.

But all in all you may pay less to just buy the Audigy/SB Live drive? Dought if I helped, but hope I did.

It works for me. You have the adapter plugged into the BASS plug?

Make sure you are using a MONO 1/8"-RCA plug, and go into Audigy Speaker controls and click "digital output only".

Baring that, if you really want optical input/output you can buy a Hoontech expander board for like $30. I forget the name of it.
