I've got a bit of a problem here with this Compaq Presario 5460 I'm trying to fix. It started out with just a simple hard drive problem, where it seemed like the original 8 GB HD needed to be replaced. So did that, replaced it with a Seagate 80 gig. But then the computer ould either refuse to get past POST, or it would go past it but not find the HD.

There is a Zip drive also in the comp, which seems to be configured to Master, and the original HD was set to cable select, so I figured I'd start with that, and if that didn't work, set the HD to slave. Neither worked however. And now after playing around with the jumpers and the power plugs, the computer won't POST at all. The PS fan turns on, the computer seems to turn on, but the CPU fan isn't spinning. WHAT HAPPEN???

I don't think it's the power supply...I tried two others and neither would fire up the motherboard. The motherboard still allows the power button to operate the power supply, but the rest of the mobo doesn't seem to be getting power. The drives and whatnot still work off the power supply. I'm guessing the mobo is shot somehow. 🙁
