I've got a bad situation here folks and I need your help. I young guy (actually a Sgt. in the Marine Corps) that works for an old friend of mine has had his computer go belly up due to a virus. The problem is that he received the computer as a gift from his family and whoever built the computer for them didn't give them any back-up CDs - none whatsoever!!! WinME was loaded on there and he received nothing, not even a driver CD for the motherboard. The only thing he has is a little blue and purple COA sticker on the side of the case. Instead of him having to fork out for another full-up copy of WinME I wanted to try and get him just a copy of the CD since he has a COA and try and save him some bucks. My question is this - would that little blue and purple sticker indicate an OEM or retail version of ME? Is there anything else on the sticker that I should look for to help identify what version this is? Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA folks!;)

from what I understand is that COA sticker is the license, so you should be fine with using a CDR/BACKUP WinME CD to reload the system & just use the CD Key thats on the COA

Yes, that what I understand too. The only thing is I want to make sure there is no difference between WinME retail and WinME OEM like there is with Win98SE retail and OEM. With Win98SE if you try to use an OEM COA with a retail CD it won't let you do it and vice versa. You get an error message to effect that the COA you're trying to use is invalid and to contact the administrator to resolve the problem.
