My uncle runs a tutoring center for kids and he was asking me if I knew of any simple programs that let you input test questions for a multiple choice test, let students input their answers at the keyboard and then automatically correct the answers and tally up the scores afterwards.

I recall some excel movie trivia floating around that was similar...except people had to
fill in complete answers rather than choose multiple choice letter answers, but it had the same end result - it tallied up the correct answers and generated a score once you were finished.

Anyone know of such a program (ideally freeware) or can suggest what would be the easiest way to go about programming something like this? I guess the key thing would be the ease of use in terms of entering a fresh batch of questions and answers.

Visual Basic is by far the easiest way to make something like this. It shouldn't take you more than a couple hours to perfect it. It's just a couple of forms with some radio buttons and some way to add the points up. I'm sure somebody here will make it for you or help you with coding.
