I have a 2000 Cavalier 2dr, similar to this one. My car is going out to get repainted next month and I'm looking to replace the raised part on the side doors.

Does anyone have any idea what those things would be called? I tried "molding" but that only gave me info on window molding kits and whatnot.

hey, not only ignorant, but a douche. nice.

GM side moldings are probably about fifty bucks, tops. dealer prices for almost all GM parts are quite reasonable, in fact.

if the part is something that can't be obtained through a parts store, the dealer is almost always your best bet. if you don't want to buy it from them, it's still helpful to get a part number.

would i advise buying parts for your european car through the dealer? probably not, but even with a shitlot more mark up than most domestic parts, trim pieces aren't that expensive.

sorry, I guess I'm just used to euro car dealers (Mercedes, mostly) to accept that not all brands gouge their customers on parts.

Go back to: gmpartsdirect.com
Select the Catalog, then: Input 2000, Chevrolet, Cavalier

Now select Door, Exterior Trim, Body Side Molding
Not sure exactly which one you want but it is in there. You can see the illustrations after you make a selection. I can tell you this: If it is the Lower Molding by the Rocker panel, it runs about $64 at that site per side. The upper piece of trim that goes next to the vertical piece runs about $32 per side

Not trying to be a ass, but whay are you having it painted? The cars value is really low and any decent paint job would probable cost more then the cars worth.
