I picked up a used washer/dryer set from a friend and have a slight problem...

The electrical cord on the dryer is a three-prong cord, but my electrical receptacle for the dryer is a 4-prong. I went to the store and got a 4-prong cord, and was hoping to just match up the connections to the proper colors and be able to plug it into the wall.

Here's my problem...the back of the dryer has
- a blue wire
- a white wire
- and a black wire

But my new 4-prong connector has
- a green wire
- a white wire
- a red wire
- and a black wire

How do these match up?

TIA

Need more information. Look for a tag on the back of the dryer with voltage. Should (usually) is 220-240V AC, usually 30 AMP. If that is what you have on the new dryer, then :

White goes to White
Black goes to Black
Blue goes to Red
Green always goes to ground. Look for a green colored screw or a downward pointing arrow logo stamped on the sheet metal to connect the ground.

I'm just gonna hook it up like you described and like the pic shows....thanks for your help!
