Hi all,
I have to go over to my friends house tomorrow to help him hook up his new X530 5.1 speakers. He has a Dell pc with a SB Live Value card. He is only getting sound from 2 of his speakers. What is the proper configuration (which plugs to plug into, software config. etc. ) to make these work? Maybe you can save me some time when I get there.
Thanks much for any help.

They're color coded. However, the black goes into green. I'm not too familiar with the SB Live cards..are they 2.1? If so, he'll need to use the black adapter included with the speaks. If they are more than 2.1, then he'll have to go into his settings to enable the extra speakers.

I think my old SB Live value was a 5.1 card.

A couple things

Is he listening to a source that is more than just stereo? Music should only come out two speakers and the sub. Try a game or DVD movie to see if the other speakers work.

Are all software settings on 5.1 speakers? Check the sound control program, the windows setting, and the game or player section to see if 5.1 is enabled.

If the card is indeed 2.1, then yeah the santacruz is a 5.1 card.
