Here is my Delima, I need a new monitor, i want a good 17 in one that will last me at least 3-5 years if not longer, and not have many (if any) geometry or color problems, now the hard part, im on a $200 budget.
Please let me know your opinions, and if you have one where i could get the monitor for under 200.

Thanks,

My Daytek 17" flat monitor cost me that much. I've had it for two years and it's performed great. I have bought two other Dayteks since then. (I have two monitors on two computers)

How about the Samsung 755df? You can find it for about $160 before shipping. If you can afford a little more, the Sony E240 is about $215. Both are flat screens.

My sister bought this ViewSonic from AxionTech. I looks great. Then a few weeks later, her husband, tired of his 15" monitor and jealous of her's, bought this from Sam's.

Personally, I like the KDS better than the ViewSonic.

I like the way that sony monitor looks, its just a lil more than i want to pay.. but im considering it.
And i have seen the KDS monitors at sams, they look physicaly ok, but i have never seen one in action, and i cant seem to find any reviews, anyone know anything about them?

I've played UT and Q3 on both of the monitors I mentioned and they both look great. The ViewSonic is brighter, but the KDS has better contrast. Text looks equally sharp on both. Out of the 2, I'd choose the KDS just because the price is better.

Edit: Typos

All the KDS monitors Ive seen have been crap....back a year or two in College we bought a bunch of them and about 10 of them killed over. Now at where I work they are killing over 1 by 1 ...at least 3 a month. If you want cheap and good Id go with CTX...they are a lil better but not too much. I haven't had one kill over yet. Also I would try to go with Viewsonic or Princeton even if you can afford one of them. Sony's are overpriced!!

You can get the Samsung 753DF 17" PerfectFlat CRT monitor for $160 at Best Buy. I think it is the best "bang for the buck" of any 17" monitor. It's by far the least expensive 17 incher I've found that has good voltage regulation, i.e., the screen size doesn't change between a white and black background. Plus it's sharp and bright, and all of them that I've used so far have had no geometry problems.
