Need Help getting video off of a DV camera

I borrowed my friends JVC Digital CyberCam and I also have a firewire card and Adobe Premier and VideoWave. But I cant get the footage I taped off of the camera and onto my computer. Neither Premier nor VideoWave will see the firewire card. But in the hardware device manager it shows up and there are no conflicts or anything. So what gives? How to I get the video off the camera. I need help...please, please, please help me.

try installing the digital video update from the microsoft site. it's in the download section of directx at the bottom of the page.

or

you can try virtualdub (you'll probably have to install webtv and the webtv update).
