need help getting Ubuntu to print...

I'm trying to get my lappy that's running Ubuntu to print using my Canon MP620 printer. I found this site:

and installed the PPA from there. I get an error that it needs some random program that isn't even a program.

Is there something I'm missing? Of course Canon's website is useless.

Sounds like a missing dependency? Have you Googled the missing "program" name?

yeah ive had a bitch of a time with some canon printers in the past...a printer choice is a big deal when using linux, or at least, it can be.

That's a bit surprising to hear that about Canon printers. I've got a PIXMA i3000r here and it was plug and play in Ubuntu 9.04 via USB. I haven't tried the wireless on it.

Details on installation of ppd file and .conf file at:

- For MP620 or MP630 : install Canon’s driver for MP610
-/usr/share/ppd/ (Canon driver in deb package)
- Copy the cifmp600.conf or cifmp610.conf file to replace Canon’s original file in /usr/lib/bjlib/
- Reinstall printer, use the new MP600, MP610, MP620, MP630 printer device provided by .ppd file

You followed these instructions?
