Need help getting Product Key off WinXP system that was not activated

Here is my dilemma. No, I am not attempting to pirate the software. After attending M$ Visual Studio.net seminar, I received a free copy of WinXP. I installed WinXP on my laptop to get rid of the WindowsME that was loaded on my laptop. I had been having problems getting my NIC to work with XP, so I forgot to activate XP until it was too long. Now I cannot get into Windows until I activate it. I tried to use dial-up to activate, but it cannot activate XP. I then called the customer service number to activate XP and I entered the activation code I was given, but XP said it was an invalid activation code and I needed to call customer service to get a new product key.

Now here is the dilemma. I have misplaced my copy of XP Pro. Is there anyway I can get into the registry to get my product key without being able to get into Windows? I am visiting my parents right now, so I can use my father's XP Pro disc with my product key to reinstall XP. Any ideas???

Thanks,
Jason

It does not matter, when you go to the screen where you call all you need is the number it gives, not the product key. They don't even ask for the product key.
