Need help getting over my hardware dilema...

Hey.. I'm in a really tough spot right now.. I need some help making a decision.. You see, I just recently gathered together around $300, and i'm considering upgrading this box. I'm currently running a P3-450, 256mb ram, 45gb ibm deskstar 75gxp hdd, gf2 gts 32mb, mx300 sound, 4x burner, 32x reader system on an Asus P2B i440bx chipset mobo..

Now I know what you're thinking .. "upgrade that burner/cpu".. well, heres the thing... I'm leaving on May 30th for a summer trip and I won't be back until mid August. Should I buy a ghz tbird cpu/mobo? A 16x or faster cdrw? Or a 80gb hd?

On the other hand I could wait until I get back from the trip and buy one of those new AMD Polimino processors (I want at least a 1.5ghz if I buy a new proc)...

This machine is mostly used for gaming, however I also store alotta mp3s on my current hd (around 30GB)...

Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks alot.

I would DEFINITELY upgrade your cpu or your burner first. Your video card is being limited in this case by your cpu I'm guessing. You could get a PIII700E and overclock it to 933 or so. Also, if you want a cheap, yet high quality burner, check out the LiteOn 12/10/32 CDRW @www.newegg.com

I'd wait if i were you, what's the point in getting a 1Ghz or a burner if you won't be able to use it for three months? It looks like what you've got now can tide you over for another month and a half.

I don't see why you would change ur burner.. if it still do the job.. and your HD seems pretty good to me..
Actually the main thing you'd have to change is your CPU... and maybe mobo depending on what you would take...

Personnally.. I would upgrade CPU/MOBO when I'd come back in august...

If your not going to be able to use it while your on your trip, wait until you get back. That $300 will buy more then than it will now.
