Just put in new MB and cpu. I think I have most bios settings in decent shape. When I put in the win me HD that I had been using before the rebuild it works fine, tests the floppy and boots to the HD.
I have a new larger HD I want to use. I disconnect the old HD and plug in the new one. It is found by the bios, correct size but as udma 33 not 66 as it is. I dont know if this is a problem, the hd setting in bios is auto.
When I start it up with a windows boot disk in A it boots up fine, but thats where it stops.

While at a> what do I do?? If I type format c: I get a response of invalid media . I cant seem to copy anything to c: Is there a set method I should be using because I am lost right now. Thanks for help RC

First you need to run FDISK, delete all partitions, recreate them (as you want them) and then format ALL partitions.

Then you can begin installing Windoze.

P.S. Is your MB capable of DMA66? Just because you have a DMA66 drive doesn't mean you will run at it (PIO mode 4)

First mistake I made was I did not delete partitions on the new HD.

I did check the MB and soyo states that it has 2 udma 33/66 controllers. In the bios I have every setting for HD at auto. Maybe once its formatted this setting may change???? I will check the drive also and make sure its a 66 though I am 99.9%sure. Thanks
