I have the following system:
Athlon XP 1700+
Alpha pal 6035
Epox 8kha+
512mb Crucial DDR
Gainward Geforce 3
Audigy
Antec 300watt ps
Fong Kai 320 case

I am currently running at 140fsb with absolutely no problems at all. The voltage is 1.8 and the ram voltage is 2.7. I have the gf3 at 220/515. I upped the fsb to 140fsb and booted into windows with no problems. I tried 3dmark 2001 but it locked up after a short time. I rebooted and upped the voltage to 1.85 and the ram voltage to 2.8. This time I also booted with no problems. I ran 3dmark and got a score of 7591. I realized that my video card was back at the default speed. I then upped it back to 220/515 and ran 3dmark 2001 again. This time on test 6 of 7 there was a brief blue screen with lots of x's and 0's on it. (BSOD?) The computer then rebooted. I checked in motherboard monitor 5 and the core voltage did not fluctuate more than .05. I thought this was good. The cpu temp was 50C. I am back to the original settings of 140fsb and 220/515 video card now. The cpu is at 42 right now. What else could I do to get this thing stable at 145fsb? There was no tearing of the video image. I looked perfect. I would like to mention that the temp of the case when the cpu was 50C was 31C. I only have a rear fan. I have a 120mm fan for the front on order. I thought this would help to cool things down. I thought the temp of the cpu might be the problem. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks very much!

Do not O/Ced ur VGA card (set it back to default). Then bump up the FSB. When u bump up the FSB, u r O/Cing the entire bus system incl. ur VGA...;)

I understand that but my score in 3dmark 2001 was 7596 with 145fsb and 7902 with 140fsb because the bus was overclocked. Does this mean that my system might be faster with a higher bus but my video card will be slower? Thanks!

I think your score was lower, because like you said the GF3 was running at default speeds 200/460 rather than the oc'ed 220/515 when you benched it.

Maybe your psu can't handle your system at those higher speeds? I am currently running my 1.4ghz XP 1600+ at just over 1.6ghz(on a Shuttle AK31 KT266A mobo) and since I cranked up the cpu voltage my Highpower 340W psu has been stressing. With my cpu voltage somewhere between 1.90-1.95 my +5v rail is averaging about 4.88v. It ws even worse when I cranked up my cpu voltage to just over 2.1v.:) Although I can easily run the cpu at this speed at 1.85v(haven't bothered trying at default voltage) I just haven't bothered to lower it.

Also, have you tried lower the settings of your RAM?

I have not tried to lower the settings of the ram. That would be a good idea. For some reason last night I did not think about it. Thanks I will try that!

I motherboard monitor my +5 was averaging 4.87 with a low of 4.81. This is at the current 140fsb. I bet it was lower at 145fsb. Could this be the problem?

That could be the problem. I know some older Epox motherboards only drew power from the +5v rail(completely ignoring the +3.3v rail), but I am not sure about 8kha+.
