So I just re-installed XP today, and its up and running. I installed the latest drivers for my computers motherboard found here: http://www.epox.com/USA/article.asp?ID=1062 I pretty much burned the software onto a cd on this computer and then put it on that computer. It installed everything, but the internet still won't work. I am on a network..So when I go to device manager and go to Network Adapters it still has the same 1394 network adapter listed, when in fact it should have installed a network adapter.

System:

Microsoft XP Professional
AMD Athlon
1.10 ghz
512 mb of ram

Any suggestions?

Using a built in nic or a card? IEEE1394 is the firewire connection. Sounds like you are missing a driver if the ethernet adapter is not showing up.

There is a driver for the built in nic that should be included with the collection of mb drivers. If the nic does not show up in Device manager, the drivers are not loaded.

I can't imagine building a machine and not going through the bios before loading anything on it. I have never had one where all the default settings were what I wanted.
