HELP PLEASE! I am having problems getting an ASUS A7V8X mobo to allow me to select the CD as the primary boot device. It will not allow me to highlite the CD and move it into the primary boot selection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I was hoping to have this up and screaming tonight!
TIA!

Ok, try this, it works with my A7V333 and may work with your A7V8X as well:
  • Go to the Boot section
  • Highlight the device(s) that are above the CD-ROM drive
  • Press the minus key (-) and hopefully this will demote them down the list so your CD drive ends up on top

If that works, let us know, ok? :D

lol

either that, or some bios i think ive read about have a "feature" where it says something along the lines of "boot from cd" or something
that needs to be enabled to put the cd as the first boot device

however wiht asus i think they kept it with teh boot menu, its like that on my a7v and my friends cuv4x

That worked great! TY, but alas, I am now getting this message (or set of mesages)
Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM :
No Emulation
Press any key to boot from CD...
Invalid system disk
Replace the disk, and then press any key

and when I press any key, I get this "invalid system disc" I am certian this disc works, it was the OS (win2K) I used on my last machine.
Any help here???
And TY for the previous help! It was a start!

Also Champioin, TY for the reply, but I see nothing like that! Grrr

You can do that on some Asus mobos by holding down the <esc> key during bootup. I think it may only work with Intel chipset boards, but I'm not sure on that one.
